Russian leader Khrushchev , when became the president of Soviet Union, addressed the parliament. In his first address he criticized on the policies of ex-president Stalin. He was an unfair and unjust ruler, he had no tolerance,he was extortionate and cruel, any one who differed his opinion was his enemy and all his claims of social and financial prosperity were nothing but a lie, he said. At this point he received a piece of paper reading .
Sir!You were very close to Mr.Stalin. Why didn't you stopped him when he was causing all this damage
".He turned red with anger and waived that piece in air and screamed
"Who dared to write this crap
". There was complete silence. He again screamed but pin drop silence continued. Khrushchev laughed and tore that piece of paper and threw it in air .
"We used to keep quiet just as you people are right now
".They kept quiet and then they got their Country divided into many pieces.
It is said that silence is worth a thousand words but keeping silent on every occasion will only cause damage.Try relating it with the following and choose your option.
History is again repeating itself. On 30 September 2005 a danish newspaper Jylland posten published the belasphemous pictures of our HOLY PROPHET(PBUH) drawn by 12 different cartoonists including Kurt Westergaard who made the most blasphemous picture. After this publications a huge protest from Muslims was recorded. The Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen described the controversy as Denmark's worst international crisis since World War II.Let me give you a brief glimpse of what all happened.
30 Sep 05:Publication of pictures with remarks from cultural editor Flemming Rose
The modern, secular society is rejected by some Muslims. They demand a special position, insisting on special consideration of their own religious feelings. It is incompatible with contemporary democracy and freedom of speech, where one must be ready to put up with insults, mockery and ridicule. It is certainly not always attractive and nice to look at, and it does not mean that religious feelings should be made fun of at any price, but that is of minor importance in the present context. [...] we are on our way to a slippery slope where no-one can tell how the self-censorship will end. That is why Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten has invited members of the Danish editorial cartoonists union to draw Muhammad as they see him. [...]
Protests arose all around the world and in the mean time different Muslim organizations filed a case in court against this publications but the case was dismissed on the basis of freedom of speech
On 30th January 2006 the newspaper published two letter on their website defending their right of publication ,rather apologising for the cartoons as
Serious misunderstandings in respect of some drawings of the Prophet Mohammed have led to much anger (…) Please allow me to correct these misunderstandings. On 30 September last year, Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten published 12 different cartoonists’ idea of what the Prophet Mohammed might have looked like. (…) In our opinion, the 12 drawings were sober. They were not intended to be offensive, nor were they at variance with Danish law, but they have indisputably offended many Muslims for which we apologize.
But the protests kept on going and on 19 Feb 06 Ross tried to explain as
The cartoonists treated Islam the same way they treat Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and other religions. And by treating Muslims in Denmark as equals they made a point: We are integrating you into the Danish tradition of satire because you are part of our society, not strangers. The cartoons are including, rather than excluding, Muslims
The boycott of danish products was done in middle east leading all the danish products to the garbage. Danish embassies in different places were set ablaze and a cash reward of almost US $11 million was put for the beheading of those cartoonists. Condition kept on getting worse for Denmark and On 9 September 2006,almost a year later, the BBC News reported that the Muslim boycott of Danish goods had reduced Denmark's total exports by 15.5% between February and June. This was attributed to a decline in Middle East exports by approximately 50%.
"The cost to Danish businesses was around 134 million euros ($170m), when compared with the same period last year, the statistics showed
However, the Guardian newspaper in the UK also reported,
"While Danish milk products were dumped in the Middle East, fervent right wing Americans started buying Bang & Olufsen stereos and Lego. In the first quarter of this year Denmark’s exports to the US soared 17%
.And in the end we saw apologies from those who were stating it as freedom of speech earlier.
And now in 2010 another fool by the name of facebook which we all know is trying to repeat the same mistake by inviting many more Kurt westergaard to draw the pictures of our HOLY PROPHET(PBUH) again. Don't they know that, we(Muslims) have led Danish exports to go down and their ministers to resign and their higher authorities to kneel down to apologize. I think they have forgotten the lesson which we taught them a few years ago. Every body this is the time to react because if we kept quiet like Khrushchev in the reign of Stalin then on the day of judgment we will be the ones asked by GOD that why did you kept quiet then and we would have no answer for this question.
Act now and boycott using facebook for at least 5 days from 19th till 23rd of May and let your voice heard because individual effort makes it the national effort.
